The next day, we headed to the beach to swim in Lake Ontario. Unfortunately, most of the beaches were closed due to the water conditions. Even though we weren’t supposed to swim, we went into the water up to our knees (we had to go in the water). The girls enjoyed playing on the beach for a while. There was also a carousel at the beach (one of the oldest ones in Canada). The best part was the rides were only 5 cents each so we took a couple rides. After the beach, we headed back to Niagara Falls.

Canada – Part 2
Canada – Part 1
Dundurn Castle…
The castle was built in the 1830’s after the war of 1812. Before going in the castle, Annalyse asked me confused “We’re wearing this clothes?” I think she thought we were going to Barbie’s Diamond Castle or Cinderella’s castle and we should be putting pretty ball gowns on. The had a good time looking at what life was like back then.
Niagara Falls at night…
After the castle, we headed to Niagara Falls to look at the falls lit up at night. We went shopping a little first before it got dark. The first stop…the Hershey Store. After shopping a little, we headed to the Skylon Tower to take a ride up 52 floors. I think that was Megan’s favorite part of the trip.

Summer is Coming to an End
I saw a video on YouTube for braiding hair. It has become one of Megan’s favorite hairstyle’s, although sometimes it take me a couple of tries to do it. She wanted me to do her and her friend’s Mallory’s hair before we went to the zoo on Monday. Mallory’s hair was a lot easier, but she had just taken a shower so her hair was really wet, I am thinking that that may be the trick. It may be her first day of school hair do.
The girls have been doing a lot of swimming in Mallory and Logan’s new pool across the street. Meredith and Megan both LOVE the diving board. Annalyse would rather stick in the pool and swim around. Megan has been doing awesome swimming all around the deep end. She has a lot more confidence in a pool than in a lake.
This is the last week of summer vacation :( Megan is beginning second grade next week and then the twins begin pre-school the week after. Unfortunately I have not been called back to work yet so I will enjoy my extended vacation and enjoy the time with the twins at home until I get called back (hopefully in a month or so).
We are taking one last trip before the summer is over. We are headed to Canada for a few days. We are going to hit up the last two Great Lakes (Ontario and Erie) and going to visit Niagara Falls. Hopefully the weather is warm enough to swim in the lakes, it has been a little cooler the last few weeks here although the weather shows a warm up at the end of the week.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears Oh My….
This week we went to the Detroit Zoo on Monday and on Wednesday, we met Beth and the girls at the Toledo Zoo. Trying to get in some last activities before the business of the school year begins, hard to believe that summer vacation is about over! :(
Detroit Zoo…
Toledo Zoo…
Most of the girls enjoyed the statue animals as much as the “real” animals. We had to take lots of pictures on the statues and it took a while for everyone to find the “perfect” spot. Fun Times!
