Ready and EXCITED for the first day of first grade at her new school.  (Megan went to kindergarten at my school last year and she is going to her “neighborhood” school this year).  Mike took Megan to school and picked her up and then they went to lunch.  She said she had a great first day but was a little disappointed she didn’t get any homework. (I told Mike she would get over the homework thing in a few years and realize it is overrated :).

After Megan’s “Meet the Teacher” tonight we went out for ice cream to celebrate the first day of school.

I also had a great day today, I only have 15 students (so far) this year so it is a dream compared to 27 last year!  :)First Day of First Grade 2010 069 First Day of First Grade 2010 071 First Day of First Grade 2010 072 First Day of First Grade 2010 079

Grandma and Grandpa Hanner were here last week to watch the girls while I had teacher development meetings and finish setting up my classroom.  The week started out warm, HOT actually, and gradually got colder.  On Sunday, we went to Chuck E Cheese and then to the cider mill for cider and doughnuts, felt like fall with the cool weather.

What We Have Been “Do”-ing

Someone got a new hair-do.  Megan and me went to get our hair cut today, since the beginning of summer I asked if she wanted her hair cut short and she said no way.  Yesterday she told me she wanted it short, I was very surprised – I think I was a little more nervous then she was today, I think I thought she was going to change her mind when it was too late, but so far she LOVES it!

Last week on Monday we went to the zoo for a little bit.  Megan talked me into going to the 3D/4D movie (I thought there actually was a height restriction that they twins were too short for but they lifted the restriction).  Well, the movie was interesting to say the least.  Mike, myself, and Megan actually already saw the movie in February when the twins were in the UP.  I am thinking the twins are not ready for 3D movies (may be why it said it may not be suitable for children under 5) – the animals really looked liked they were coming at us and it FREAKED the twins out, they were on my lap whining through the whole thing, then air blows at your face like the rhinos are blowing on you and you get squirted with water twice like rhinos peeing on you and mud flying at you.  During the movie, Megan also FREAKED out, after it was HER idea.  All I can say is good thing it is only like a 10 minute movie or we would have been walking out.

Last week the girls went back to day care so that I could work in my classroom setting up, making plans, doing copies, etc.  Unfortunately summer is coming to a close and it is time to go back to work.  They loved going to day care, I was a little worried that Annalyse would cry when we dropped her off but she was happy as a lark to be there.  Here are some pictures of my room:
