Glistening and Shiny

The twins had there first visit to the dentist today.  I wasn’t sure if they were going to have a full dental exam today or just “go for a ride” on the chair.  Megan and I went first.  (Mike met us there also).  The twins were in the room with Megan while she got her teeth cleaned, the hygienist Heather said they were very interested and excited to have their teeth done.  It just so happened that my hygienist Rosie and Megan’s hygienist Heather both has cancellations after us so the twins had a full exam – no exams or fluoride, just an exam and polish.  They did FANSTANIC!  I wasn’t really concerned of them crying, I was most concerned with them not liking the flavors of the polish and such.  They were in luck – Annalyse had root beer (the only flavor of suckers she likes) and Meredith had chocolate mint (one of her favorite candies).  We held off on the fluoride because it was already 20 minutes after 6 and they wouldn’t be able to eat for a half hour and we hadn’t eaten dinner.  Dr. Carlin said everything looks great and no one has to go back for 6 months.  Heather was impressed with the eagerness of the girls in the chairs, she said every family usually has at least one crier!

Saturday morning we woke up to our first snow!  There wasn’t much and it melted within an hour or two of waking up, but it was definitely our first snow.

And………………………….

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Voakes house.  We have our Christmas tree up!  We were coming home on Sunday from getting the girls Christmas pictures done (I know we are early, but hey, it wasn’t very busy!) and we saw a house in our subdivision with garland along their railing inside.  Mike said we should put our tree up, I told him that I wouldn’t discourage him from doing it – so during the Packer game last night, he put our tree up!

Have a good week!  We managed to get two hours extra of sleep because of the time change.  One on Sunday (well, not really) and one on Monday.  Sunday night I remembered to change the time on my alarm clock but evidently I forgot to set my alarm.  All of a sudden at 6:45 am this morning, I heard the twins getting up.  I had to first think what day of the week it was and then I had to think what time I usually wake up at.  Well, I usually get up at 5:30 and leave by 6:50, needless to say it was a rush and good thing Mike was working close to home today.

Did you vote?

Mike got home early on Tuesday so before dinner we took a bike ride to the middle school so we could vote. Annalyse was very xcited to go voting. After we were all done, ready to bike back home, she got a little mad. She said, "NO, we need to go boat. We need to go on the water." Poor girl, confused and very much disappointed!

Happy Halloween!

We had a great time celebrating Halloween. Mike and I were both able to go into Megan's classroom (Mike in the morning, me in the afternoon) to help out. Then they had a treat-or-treat night with a dj and cider and donuts afterwards. They kids had fun (it is amazing how many kids Megan knows after only being there for 2 months). Saturday night we carved pumpkins. Megan was very much into it, as was Meredith surprisingly (although she did tell me the guts were disgusting). Annalyse wanted a washcloth to wipe her hands after every handful of guts. The white pumpkin smelled like a cucumber, it was wierd and it had white guts instead of orange. Treat-or-treating went good. It was very chilly! Annalyse and Meredith did a good job, they lasted about an hour and then rode in the wagon. Megan went strong for about 2 1/2 straight hours, she would have went to more houses but there weren't many lights left on.

Fall Fun

On Saturday we went to Morley Chocolate Shop for their Fall Festival.  It is usually pretty busy but we were about one of three families there, it was nice.  They take pictures (I will scan it and post it separately), have face painting, and balloon animals.  Megan got a butterfly painted on her face, Meredith got a small dog on her face, and Annalyse got a dog on her hand.

Sunday, we (well, everyone but ME) got dressed in Packer clothes and headed to Yates Cider Mill.  It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day (72 degrees)!  They have a beautiful nature trail to walk along.  They girls enjoyed having their pictures taken, they kept saying “take my picture here.”  We finished by having cider and donuts for lunch.

When we got home, the girls spent the afternoon playing outside,  the twins traded their nap for playing (it was such a nice day).  They made ladybug stew, we have been infested with them.
